The Linux Kernel Summit brings together the world's leading core kernel developers to discuss the state of the existing kernel and plan the next development cycle.  This two day conference is invitation-only and focuses on development and innovation through sessions and workshops that encourage interaction and discussion between kernel developers and industry leaders.

Attendees to the Kernel Summit are chosen via a nomination process. If you are interested in attending and would like to be nominated, you are encouraged to subscribe to the Linux kernel mailing list. Details of the Kernel Summit nomination process will be broadcast on the list.

The format of Kernel Summit 2011 varies from previous years. Please note the updated schedule of events:

To attend Monday’s workshops, you must have an invitation code to attend.

Monday, October 24 – Invitation Only Kernel Summit Meeting
To register to attend on Monday, you must have an invitation code to register.

Tuesday, October 25 – Kernel Summit Plenary Sessions
Open to Sunday and Monday invited attendees.

Linux Kernel Summit 2011 will be held at the Clarion Congress Hotel in Prague, Czech Republic. The hotel is situated in a modern part of Prague - Vysočany, just 15 minutes by metro (next door to the hotel) from the historical centre of Prague.


Social Events & When to Arrive

Evening events will be held for Linux Kernel Summit attendees on the evenings of Sunday, October 23, Monday, October 24 and Tuesday, October 25. The receptions taking place on Sunday and Tuesday are open to Kernel mini-summit attendees also. 

In addition, we are planning day tours for attendees who are onsite and available on Sunday, October 23 - you will have the opportunity to sign up for this tour on your registration.

Bring your spouse or partner to Prague this year!  On your Kernel Summit registration form, you will have the option to sign up for our Partner Program in Prague this year, which includes day tours on Monday, October 24 and Tuesday, October 25, as well as entrance to both evening events.  The partner tours are:  

  • Monday, October 24 - Prague Sightseeing Tour including Prague Castle and Boat Trip: includes Old Town, New Town, Prague Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral and Jewish Quarter, with a boat trip on the Vltava Rover.  Tour is 3 hours long.  9:30am pick-up - please meet in the Entry Court lobby of the Clarion Congress Hotel.
  • Tuesday, October 25 - Kutná Hora (UNESCO Heritage Site): Kutná Hora was one of the most important political and economic centres of Bohemia in the 14th and 15th centuries. Its medieval centre and the churches are outstanding examples of architectural development and testify to the cultural vivacity of the area. Tour is 6 hours long.  9:30am pick-up - please meet in the Entry Court lobby of the Clarion Congress Hotel.
